Our Tri Kappa Chair Affair Auction was held Saturday. We (the commitee) were so excited we could hardly keep from jumping up and down. My family was very busy. The auction is held after the Rochester Cookoff. Bill was asked to be a "celebrity" judge this year. He had alot of fun. One of the other judges was Nick Groenlear. Bill has watched Nick grow up and we attended his wedding about a month ago. Nick brought his wife Kay with him and she judged, also.
Back to our Chair Affair. If you would like to know more about it, go back to my previous post "Chair Affair" that I posted about a month ago. The first picture above, is the 28 chairs that we auctioned off. The second picture is the owner of the chair that was sold for the highest amount. The artist is Jim Scott and the new owner is Bill Rowe. He paid $300 for the chair. Bill has a collection of Jim's work in his home and was determined to have the highest bid! Congratulations Bill! We are so greatful to the willingness of the artists to donate their time and creativity for this endeavor. I am very proud to say that my chair was the third top money getter with a final bid of $110. I told the other 4 people that didnt get my chair that I would be glad to make one for them, if they would provide me with a chair. I asked that they either give a donation to Tri Kappa or to the United Ministries for Christmas Baskets in leiu of my payment.
Carol was pleased to buy a beautiful "tiara chair". The artist was Lori Roberts. She is so proud of having her very own chair. I will take a picture of it for my next post. The final tally for the event is $1885. We collected $385 more than we did at our first chair affair. All the money will be distributed in the form of scholarships. In this tight financial climate, the public has been very generous.
