Carol has been attending Awana with Grandma Maxine for the last two years. They meet on Wednesday night at Gramdma Maxine's First Baptist Church, here in Rochester. This week was Recess for Summer Awards Night. In the top picture, we see Carol doing what Carol does best.....singing and dancing. The bottom picture shows her receiving attendance and uniform awards. The finale of the program was a balloon launch. The kids had such fun releasing the balloons. Each had a memory verse attached. Awana is founded on bible memory verses. The idea is to memorize different verses so that when you are have tough decisions in life, these verses will remind you of what Jesus did to help him decide how to handle a situation. They also played games and had great fun during social times. Carol had several girlfriends that attended and met several more during the experience. It was great to have it on Weds., as I have a busy Wed. with Chix w/Stix, Bells of Grace and Chancel Choir. It also gave Dad a nice night alone without females in "his" house.
